    While activities across the globe have seemingly come to a halt, the opposite is true for the members of the 30th Space Wing Command Post. During times of crisis, information is key. To enable the mission, the 30th SW Command Post has expanded their operations to keep information flowing.
  • The space mission continues during COVID-19; USSF leaders visit VAFB

    Gen. Jay Raymond, U.S. Space Force Chief of Space Operations and U.S. Space Command commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Roger A. Towberman, USSF Senior Enlisted Advisor and USSPACECOM senior enlisted leader, visited different units across Vandenberg Air Force Base, May 6, 2020, to observe how the members of the space community have implemented measures to continue the base’s missions and the Range of the Future initiative while responding to the current COVID-19 pandemic.
  • RocketShip delivers third Delta IV Heavy booster at VAFB

    The barge docked at Vandenberg AFB to offload the final Delta IV Heavy booster for an upcoming launch scheduled to occur later this year. The barge operation is a vital first step to executing the mission of assured access to space.
  • VAFB delivery supports FCI Lompoc interagency partnership

    The 30th Logistics Readiness Squadron and the 30th Civil Engineering Squadron loaded cots and tents to support the Federal Correctional Institution Lompoc. The supplies were requested by the FCI Lompoc to enable their staff to increase inmate physical separation during COVID-19. The loan of equipment aimed to boost interagency partnerships.
  • Flying despite COVID-19; BMT Airmen arrive at VAFB

Typically, members leaving BMT from Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas, travel on commercial aircraft to get to their technical school locations. However, under current COVID-19 circumstances, the Airmen are flown on military aircraft to designated bases and transported to their tech school locations by bus. The students went through a 14-day quarantine at BMT prior to flying.
  • Mission assured; the mission continues

    Across the many units and flights at Vandenberg Air Force Base, the Airmen continue to accomplish the mission to provide assured access to space. While each unit at Vandenberg AFB is important to the mission, there is only one that can provide mission assurance to Atlas and Delta launches: the Mission Assurance Flight within the 2nd Space Launch Squadron.

    As a means to help “flatten the curve” and stop the spread of COVID-19, the 30th Security Forces Squadron has increased their security procedures in accordance with the base health protection measures to keep, not only themselves, but the members of Vandenberg Air Force Base, safe during the pandemic.
  • The mission goes on; one meal at a time

    In the face of a global pandemic, the stress of COVID-19 has not stopped the mission at Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif. Units from across the installation continue to provide support in order to take care of the well-being of Airmen and their families to ensure essential operations remain unaffected.To help provide that support, the 30th Force Support Squadron and the Defense Commissary Agency team have been at the forefront of maintaining mission readiness for the base by providing healthy meals and services.
