MediaAdvisory: Vandenberg to host California ANG jump team

Release Number: 060609

Vandenberg will host members of the California Air National Guard's 131st Rescue Squadron for a series of parachute jumps over the base's airfield from approximately 1-5 p.m. Wednesday.

The event, with five jumps planned, is intended to qualify California ANG Airmen on jumping techniques and prepare them for real-world jump missions.

The Airmen will make the jumps from a C-130 Hercules aircraft stationed out of Texas.

While here, the California ANG team will also evaluate the effectiveness of the base as a drop zone for possible future jump training and testing.

Col. David Buck, the 30th Space Wing commander, will participate in a tandem drop during one of the first drops of the day.

Media Advisory: Media interested in covering the event may contact 1st Lt Raymond Geoffroy at 805-606-3595. A convoy will leave the Main Gate at 12:45 p.m. (This time may shift). Interviews with Wing leadership will be available.
