VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. --
The last published issue of the Space & Missile Times will be Oct 27.
Termination of the internal information product is the wave of the Air Force future as we have fewer assets available to produce them.
The 30th Space Wing Public Affairs office's current manning stands at 22%, and there are similar manning situations at other Air Force offices around the globe.
With the Air Force undertaking many changes to include PBD-720, which is a plan for AF manning and equipment cuts, and the continuing support for the Global War on Terror, there is a need to do "less with less".
The Air Force has also begun migration to a standard web-site that each base will be able to update stories, photos, current events and other information in a more timely and accurate manner.
The Secretary of the Air Force Public Affairs office states that most active-duty Airmen have near universal internet access: 70% from work, 65% from home. Expands reach of information and gives audiences multiple channels.
With this change, there is an ability to ensure the Air Force story gets to the public, requiring less man hours to accomplish a quality product.
