    Exercise Global Lightning 20 successfully concluded with the most commercial partnership participation to date at the Combined Space Operations Center at Vandenberg Air Force Base Jan. 30.
  • Minuteman III launches from Vandenberg

    An unarmed Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile launched during a developmental test Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 12:33 a.m. Pacific Time from North Vandenberg. This Minuteman III launch, conducted by Air Force Global Strike Command, was made possible by Vandenberg’s extensive range support. This launch is the first that Vandenberg has hosted since it became a part of the United States Space Force. The 30th Space Wing provides critical technical capabilities in support of space launch and test customers to include telemetry and radar, command and control, optics, and communication.

    Veterans who have been granted a Veterans Affairs disability rating from 1 to 99 percent, as well as their caregivers, are now authorized to obtain an installation access card.
  • The fabrication of space

    As the need for space superiority continues into a new decade, training and education will lay the foundation for building up future leaders in the U.S. Space Force. Within the 30th Operations Support Squadron is a shop whose core mission is to create high quality training tools and devices for the space and missile community. The Training Device Design and Engineering Center has a long tradition of building training tools and devices at Vandenberg Air Force Base. Established in 1958, TDDEC began their mission during the early years of U.S. Air Force launch vehicle testing. For the past 62 years, expert technicians at TDDEC have been designing and fabricating a variety of scale models, mockups, device prototypes, interactive simulators and one-of-a-kind tools all aimed at improving education and training.

  • 14th Air Force Redesignated as Space Operations Command

    By order of Secretary of the Air Force Barbara M. Barrett, effective Dec. 20, 2019, Fourteenth Air Force was officially redesignated as Space Operations Command. Air Force military and civilian personnel previously assigned to Fourteenth Air Force are now assigned to SpOC by virtue of the redesignation action.
