Though we are not quite there, spring is peeking through with blossoms on trees and flowers blooming.  It is a wonderful time of year to venture out and see what they area has to offer. Below are some events to get you started!

Lompoc Valley

Cabrillo High School Musical “All Shook Up”

When: Friday, March 6 beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Where: 4350 Constellation Rd in Vandenberg Village

Enjoy a local high school’s production of All Shook Up! It is a musical comedy about a magical jukebox and a leather-jacketed stranger and the impact they have on a loveless town.

La Purisma Mission Traditional Mission Life Day

When: Saturday, March 14 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Where: 2295 Purisma Road in Lompoc

Join the costumed docents and staff for an opportunity to observe and participate in the craft activities that supplied the needs of the mission residents. For more information see www.lapurisimamission.org.

La Purisma Mission Mountain Men Encampment  

When: Saturday, March 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Where: 2295 Purisma Road in Lompoc

This annual event is a great family adventure that includes buckskin clad members of the American Mountain Men who share mountain men history and skills. Cooking, hide preparation and tanning, leather working, rope making, and blacksmithing are among the skills that visitors may experience. Equipment will be on display and tall tales will surround the campfire. For more information see www.lapurisimamission.org.

Santa Maria Valley

Santa Maria Open Streets

When: Sunday, March 29 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Where: one mile long on Main Street from Broadway to Blosser in Santa Maria

Santa Maria streets come alive with adults and children engaging in fitness, art, music, dance and around 15 cultural activities. For more information go to www.santamariaopenstreets.org.

Buellton

Buellton Wine and Chili Festival

When: Sunday, March 15 from noon to 4:30 p.m.

Where: Flying Flags RV Resort & Campground at 180 Avenue of the Flags in Buellton
