  • Volunteer Docents needed

    Vandenberg Air Force Base is seeking volunteer docents for the 2020 western snowy plover breeding season to assist in balancing wildlife protection and visitor recreation. Docents specifically help to protect the threatened western snowy plover from disturbance during the nesting season and create awareness among beach visitors.

    The 30th Space Wing, Vandenberg's host unit, supports West Coast launch activities for the Air Force, Department of Defense, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, national programs and various private industry contractors. The Wing supports the processing and launch of a variety of expendable vehicles including Atlas V, Delta IV, Delta II, Pegasus, Minotaur, Taurus and Falcon. The Wing also supports Force Development and Evaluation of all intercontinental ballistic missiles, as well as Missile Defense Agency (MDA) test and operations.

  • Space Operations Command

    Space Operations Command is headquartered at Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif. It is responsible for the organization, training, equipping, command and control (C2), and employment of space forces to support operational plans and missions for U.S. combatant commanders and air component commanders. Space Operations Command serves as the headquarters and staff for United States Space Command’s (USSPACECOM) Combined Force Space Component Command (CFSCC).
  • Combined Force Space Component Command

    The CFSCC is commanded by Maj. Gen. John Shaw with a mission to plan, integrate, conduct, and assess global space operations in order to deliver combat relevant space capabilities to Combatant Commanders, Coalition partners, the Joint Force, and the Nation. CFSCC plans and executes space operations through four (4) distinct and geographically dispersed operations centers, including: Combined Space Operations Center (CSpOC) at Vandenberg AFB, CA; Missile Warning Center (MWC) at Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station, CO; Joint Overhead Persistent Infrared Planning Center (JOPC) at Buckley AFB, CO; and Joint Navigation Warfare Center (JNWC) located at Kirtland AFB, NM. Additionally, the CFSCC executes tactical control over globally dispersed Air Force, Army, and Navy space units that command ground-based space capabilities and satellites in every orbital regime.
