  • Expanded Local Leave Area for Vandenberg AFB

    On 20 April 2020, the Secretary of Defense (SECDEF) issued Modification and Reissuance of DoD Response to Coronavirus Disease 2019—Travel Restrictions, superseding prior guidance on the same subject. Personnel on Vandenberg AFB shall comply with all aspects of the SECDEF order, as it applies to them. This memorandum supersedes Vandenberg AFB Leave Policy, dated 18 March 2020, and will remain in effect until rescinded or superseded by higher authority.
  • Public Health Directive #4 – Phased Recovery

    The great effort and cooperation everyone at Team Vandenberg has exhibited in the six weeks since the Declaration of a Public Health Emergency have ensured the safety of our personnel and continued success of our mission. The key to our continued success will be our sustained discipline as we phase into the recovery and restoration phases, and return to some normal base and personal functions.
  • Renewed Declaration of a Public Health Emergency on Vandenberg AFB

    On 20 March 2020, I declared a Public Health Emergency based on the public health situation involving Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). I have consulted with my Public Health Emergency Officer (PHEO) regarding the current status of COVID-19. Based on the PHEO’s recommendations and considering all circumstances, I am renewing my declaration of a public health emergency IAW AFI 10-2519, Public Health Emergencies and Incidents of Public Health Concern. This declaration will terminate automatically 30 days from the date of this memorandum unless it is renewed and re-reported, or terminated sooner by myself or a senior commander in the chain of command.

  • Basic Allowance for Subsistence and Meals at No Cost Due to COVID-19

    The Department of Defense, Department of the Air Force, and Vandenberg Air Force Base continue to take measures to protect our Airmen and their families. During the COVID-19 national emergency, some uniformed airmen may be restricted in their movements by medical professionals or their Commanders and may have meals provided by the Government (MREs, flight line meals, DFAC, etc.). Effective immediately, I authorize Airmen under the conditions described below to receive Government-provided meals without charge and also receive Basic Allowance for Subsistence (BAS) at the applicable standard monthly rate without automatic deduction.

Anthony Mastalir, 30th Space Wing commander, on March 22, 2020, to protect the health and wellbeing of all members of Team Vandenberg to include military members, civilian employees, dependents, retirees, contractors, and any persons on the installation for any reason.
