Beach Violations:
Surf Beach - CLOSED 50/50
Wall Beach - 2/10
Minuteman Beach - 0/10
VAFB Beach Rules from March 1 - Sept. 30:
·Keep out of posted closed beach and dune areas. Look for the fences and signs indicating temporary closures. Entering these areas frightens the birds from their nests, exposing the eggs to the elements and to predators.
·No littering (including fishing bait and fish remains). Please use trash containers located at beach entry points.
·No pets.
·No camping.
·No beach fires.
·No fireworks.
·No kite flying.
·No feeding wildlife.
·No horses or ATV's (except for authorized enforcement personnel).
·Violators of beach rules may be fined up to $5,000.
·Harassment, harm, or destruction of snowy plovers, their nests or chicks may be punished by civil penalties up to $25,000 or criminal penalties up to $50,000 and/or one year in prison.
·Violation limits have been imposed for Surf beach (50), which is open to the public; Wall Beach (10); and Minuteman Beach (10). If limits are exceeded on any beach, that beach will be closed for the remainder of the nesting season.
Beach Hours:
·Surf Beach - Open daily 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
·Wall and Minuteman Beaches open daily from sunrise to sunset. If more than five violations are reported at one of these beaches, that beach will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
·Reference above bullet for number of violations that will close the beach for the season.
