VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. --Please join Col. Nina Armagno, 30th Space Wing commander, in congratulating our 30th Security Forces Squadron on its selection as Air Force Space Command's Outstanding Active Duty Large Security Forces Unit for 2011! These are only a few of a multitude of accomplishments the unit garnered for their award. The unit had their highest deployment tempo in the last five years, deploying hundreds of Airmen who covered 12 areas of responsibility around the world in five different campaigns. The 30th SFS still supported the launch mission by protecting Vandenberg's secure areas ensuring $603 billion of assets were able to launch. The unit resurrected the bike patrol which extended their reach and patrol on base. They also brought a VirTra Systems simulator that cut 50,000 dollars in ammunition to aid weapon tactics training.
