VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Brig. Gen. Gary Connor presents 1st Lt. Daniel Carroll, a Executive Officer from the 30th Launch Group, with the Joint Service Achievement Medal on March 7 for his work on the Missile Defense Agency FTG-03a mission back in September 2007. General Connor is the MDA Ground-Based Mid-course Defense Joint Program Office program director. During the mission a Strategic Targets System rocket was launched from the Kodiak Launch Complex on Kodiak Island, Alaska and was successfully intercepted by the Ground-based Interceptor launched from a launch facility at Vandenberg. The test was the second successful intercept out of Vandenberg. The mission proved once again that the United States has a legitimate deterrent to rogue nation ICBM threats.
