Vandenberg members get Street Smart

11/28/2011 - VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Members from the 30th Space Wing Safety office are scheduled to host a real-life safety drama at the base theater Nov. 30.
The Street Smart presentation is part of a national program created by Florida Stay Alive From Education 1988 to help reduce the occurrence of drinking and driving.
There will be three one-hour shows starting at 9 a.m.,10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
"We know that people have heard this message a thousand times before," said Orlando Fire Department Lt. Scott Neusch, a firefighter/paramedic with the City of Orlando, Fla., and a Street Smart presenter. "Our goal is to make folks realize how important it is to make good choices."
In a stage performance, Street Smart takes the audience through the actions of a firefighter/paramedic as he works to save the lives of those who have made the choice to drive while under the influence or disregard seatbelt safety.
"Street Smart is a no-holds-barred presentation that gets Airmen involved," said Patrick Hansen, a 30th Safety Office specialist. "It will give Airmen a real-life look at the consequences of poor choices and encourage them to make responsible decisions every time they get behind the wheel."
