11/22/2011 - VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif.  -- Members from the 30th Space Wing Safety office are scheduled to provide safety checks on the vehicles of anyone who has base access at the Army Air Force Exchange Service gas station from 9 a.m. - Noon here Nov. 23.

"The Safety office would like to encourage people to take extra time to check their vehicles and get identified issues fixed before holiday travel," said Mark Stortecky, a 30th Space Wing Safety occupational safety and health specialist. "We will be checking the basics like the headlights and horn for any issues that may require attention."

Additional safety checks will include tire pressure and fluid levels.

After the safety evaluation, a checklist with findings will be supplied to those who participate. It is up to the owner to service their own vehicle.
